MISSION STATEMENT To bring socially and environmentally conscious music and art events, including an annual festival to Southeast Florida. These events feature critically acclaimed national acts, rising and local artists ranging from the visual arts to the oratory arts with a focus on themes such as environmentalism, unity, and eradicating societal injustices and dehumanization at the complex intersections.
2024 FESTIVAL THEME: In addition to the usual themes of unity and social consciousness, this year's festival focuses on What is Humanity: A critical look into AI and Social Media. The 2025 festival theme plans to address global poverty and income inequality (More info TBA).
BACKGROUND Light in the Dark Fest began during peak Covid 2020 as two online Fundraiser Festivals for Food Chain Workers Alliance and Save Our Stages. It featured original new recorded performances and debut music videos by critically acclaimed artists such as SUSTO, International Folk Music Awards’ Artist of the Year, Allison Russell(with Birds Of Chicago), legend Robyn Hitchcock, ambient music pioneer,Laraaji, and many others. The online events also included a short film contest judged by the founders of the Denali Film Festival, along with a visual art contest facilitated by university faculty.
