Light in the Dark III:
2021 Short Film Contest
The Light in the Dark short film contest is seeking short films (4 minutes or less) in the following categories: indie comedy, action/ adventure, or drama films. This means no documentaries or horror films, sorry.
Early Bird Submission deadline: Nov 1 $10 submission fee
Late Submission deadline: Dec 1 $20 submission fee
The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of $50 and will have their video premiere in the Light in the Dark Fest footage video reel alongside the festival musicians, visual artists, and other festival contributors. The second-place winner and other official selections for the festival will be available on the festival website on the day of the event.

Judges for The Short Film Contest
Darrell Johnston is a director of the Denali Film Festival and has taught at UCLA, CalArts, The University of Minnesota/Guthrie, and the University of South Carolina. He co-founded Highway Walkers Media in 2011. His films have aired on Public Television and have been purchased by Oscar and Emmy nominated websites. He holds an MFA from the University of South Carolina.

Kimberly Braun is a classically trained actor and singer, Kimberly has acted professionally at Folger Theatre, Barter Theatre, and Texas Shakespeare Festival and has taught throughout the country including at Guthrie Theatre and CalArts. She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association and a director of the Denali Film Festival.
